- Here we are less than ONE full week into January, and I found Easter Eggs and Hot Cross Buns already out in the supermarket. They have to be kidding, right? Good Friday this year is 10 April so the supermarkets down under are seeking to maximise their junk spend. This way all those goodies cease to become a treat, but there is some sort of junk out there and being actively pushed. it takes away the magic and almost makes it everyday.
- I was on a train pulling out of the station and looked up and there was a big burly bloke with facial hair and barrel shape reading a John Birmingham book and I smiled. I could make out the author clearly and there was a plane on the cover and it was almost as thick as a doorstop but I could not tell you which of his books it was.
- The day started off overcast with heat and humidity weighing down heavily on my shoulders making each step an effort.
- Spiders are out and active and building tiny perfect webs at eye level height across the pathway from my door to the main road. mental note to self. Watch out!! I hate walking through and into webs.
- I counted three bunnies hopping unconcernedly beside the roadway to the station and they made me smile. And one cockatoo flying low.
- Temperature was 85 and 70% humidity with clear heat hazed summer blue skies, adorned with singlet tops, burnished tans and sometimes ruddy sunburned skin and shorts of all lengths as well as loose and slowing summery dresses. They are saying it will be between 95 and 104 on 7th. Summer is here. Until 8th January when we will be back to a windy rainy 75ish….for a day or 2 and then back to sweltering.

How is that outrageous accent?

No! Easter Eggs? Cadbury’s? My favorite time of year is that sweet time between valentines and Easter.
You have a nice JS refugee collection I see!
I believe these retailers will next be making up holidays just to get us to buy more stuff. Haha! Stay cool.
S
Joan: I am working on my refugee collection. Does that make treasured people, “collectibles”?
Bobby: Thank you! I have missed you muchly and am adding you to my collection right now. I DON’T have an accent – YOU do! Maggs
I’d say that’s definitely a bit soon. I noticed Valentines stuff here in the store but at least that’s February.
*hugs*
I saw Valentine’s day stuff out at the store last weekend! I am not over Christmas yet!
Lol, that’s crazy. Shows you just how desperate the retailers are. What part of the world do you live in that’s 85 degrees in the middle of winter!
eggs…hot cross buns…bunnies!! ahhh…is it an omen for Easter this year??
Hey it isn’t the middle of winter here, it is the middle of summer. I am in Australia. Kelly, I saw some valentines stuff today but that is at least february but Easter is APRIL…… Lu it seems to get earlier every year!!!!
