Day 1 – “One’s destination is never a place, but rather a new way of looking at things.” Henry Miller

I am getting a jump on New Year and likely as a result of post Christmas guilt over the far_too_much food I have consumed I am committing myself to treating myself with the same care and indulgence I treat everyone else with.  

Wizardress has also inspired me with her journeying into a body she feels comfortable in, so I am joining her on this journey and looking after myself inside and out.  After all this vehicle ( body) has to carry me around as long as I am here and as balance is important I want to work on the WHOLE person, inside and out.

If it is teaching me something then it likely will help someone else so here goes: bravely I am opening this up and I will walk with you so come alone with me.

Today, this morning I have been considering the power of INTENTION.  Once we make up our minds and decide to do something and commit to a path, these thoughts and the thinking has immense power to make real changes in our lives.  

TODAY:

  • I commit to walking around in a slimmer ( see Christmas food guilt!!) more toned body. I can see this.  
  • I will have more energy and more confidence in who I am. I believe this is possible. 
  • I will take 15 minutes to write in a part of my journal that I will not immediately publish.  This will hold my hopes and fears, my secrets and my dreams   and will be a stream of everything unhampered.  it will be a great listener and safe for me.  I will do this first to clear my mind of clutter and chaos and any doubts that rise up and try to stop me continuing on this journey.  
  • I took ten minutes and sat quietly with my eyes closed, totally relaxed and JUST concentrated on breathing in and out for 10 minutes.  
  • I will walk for 30 minutes with one of the girls, just around the park over the road
  • I will spend 40 minutes stretching and working a variety of muscles and include the girls.  ( if anyone would like to know the specifics I can email them to you!!)

I WILL EAT:

  1. ON WAKING: 1 cup of hot water with a squeeze of fresh lemon on waking.
  2. BREAKFAST: Berry Smoothie ( 150gm frozen /fresh berries; 110ml no fat yoghurt; 150ml crushed ice; 1 teaspoon flaxseeds; 1 tsp sunflower seeds) Blend and enjoy
  3. LUNCH: Salad ( 50gm grated white cabbage, 50gm shredded lettuce, 1 small grated carrot, 2 diced tomatoes, half avocado, 1 tbs toasted sesame seeds, 150gm piece grilled fish or chicken; spritz with balsalmic vinegar.
  4. DINNER: Vegetable soup, Chicken Fajitas with Black Beans guacamole and salsa
  5. SNACKS: If I so choose I will nibble on vegetable sticks with a squeeze of lime or fruit kebabs

My life is happening NOW and will not start at some future date when my goals are met. 

CHALLENGE: I will eat one meal today in total silence without a book to read or background noise of radio, or music or tv.  I will consciously eat. What does it look like, smell like, feel like in my mouth. How many times do I chew? How does my stomach react to this?

INDULGENCE: Today I will give myself a scalp treatment. 

Blend quarter cucumber, 1 kiwi fruit, half cup plain yoghurt and 1 tbs honey. Apply carefully to dry hair smoothing this over every hair and every inch of my scalp. I will leave 10 minutes and then shampoo as normal.

I will share this journey with Geni and Leonnie so they may learn to be as kind to themselves as they are to others.
