Day 7 – “One day when the wind is perfect, the sail just needs to open and the world is full of beauty. Today is such a day. ” Rumi

As I have spent the last seven days trying this new lifestyle out, I feel I deserve a reward and I am thinking about how that may translate. The weekend is looming so an adventure could very well be on the cards; kayaking? bicycling? a visit to the mountains? hiking through some bush trails? Today I shall also explore what my local area offers by way of yoga pilates and or dance classes. I remind myself that the only limitations are my mind, and I really would like to dance so some dance training sings and vibrates on my right frequency right now. Let’s see what I might find!!! As well as this research and identifying doors I will soon walk through, I will grab the kids and go for an extra long walk somewhere green and growing. We have a national park not too far away, so I am thinking we may pack lunch and go down there and hire some canoes and paddle for some time on the river.

TODAY:

  • I will write in my journal: I will let my inner child loose in my journal today.  I will allow her tow rite anything she wants unrestrained, an unrestricted, unedited and uncensored.  What did I most treasure about being young?  How may I recapture some of those things and bring them back into my daily life?  I will allow this child I am rediscovering today stay with me today, this week and in the weeks to come. 
  • I will meditate:  I will think over my meditation times during the past 7 days and I will revisit my favourite.
  • I will do 15 minutes yoga:  I will add an extra 5 minutes to my practise today.  I will continue to move at a pace that challenges me, not concerning myself with the number of Sun Salutations I complete.  I will continue to explore my body, my breath and the poses.
  • I will walk for 60 minutes today.  I will incorporate this walking into my adventure today!  
  • I will do 45 minutes of stretching and strength training:  I will take note how I feel as I do these exercises which are now becoming familiar to me.  Is my posture changing?  Am I standing taller?  I will add 1.5 kg weights to this training.

I WILL EAT:

  1. ON WAKING: A glass of hot water with a squeeze of lemon.
  2. BREAKFAST:  I will make a spinach and mushroom omelette with egg whites and add two chopped tomatoes as well.
  3. LUNCH:  I will have curried spinach salad with grilled fish ( served with pepitas and papaya)
  4. DINNER:  I will have chicken stirfry over finely shredded raw cabbage
  5. TREAT:  2 tbs guacamole with carrot sticks

CHALLENGE:  I will take time to remember that although retraining my thinking to care for myself 9 body and spirit) is challenging it is also meant to be FUN – as life should be too.   Today Is eek to tap into my inner child; I may dance around the living room to silly music, I my make a picnic of one of my meals,  I may find a park with a swing ste and play on these for a while, or the see saw….

INDULGENCE:  Today I will buy myself a gorgeous bunch of flowers to congratulate myself for completing this first week into living this way.  I will let my nose and other senses guide me in my choice of flowers,e specially letting their fragrance sing to me.  While I am wandering int he choosing of this I will also book an hour massage. For myself.
