Christmas Eve Update – while guzzling a much needed coffee

  • The pork loin is cooked, 
  • the turkey is cooked ( and cooling), 
  • the spicy chicken bites are cooked and cooling
  • the stuffing balls are cooked and cooling
  • the rice salad is cooked, dressed and cooled and almost ready to be refrigerated
  • Tony has left ( last minute grocery list in hand) plus he will begin HIS gift shopping now
  • Geni and Leonnie are BOTH still asleep ( or hiding behind closed bedroom doors to avoid cleaning!! and reading instead)
  • I have grated carrot and sliced celery finely. he rest of the salad things must wait
  • Babganoush and hummos are prepared

Yet to do:

  • Bake the individual quiche tarts (tomorrow morning)
  • prepare the cheesecake ( next on the list)
  • prepare the no bake chocolate tarts
  • Bake the pavlova ( last thing tonight)

Despite my best intentions what I am preparing has blown out ad i am struggling to rein myself in.   The menu has changed a little:

STARTERS:

  • spicy chicken bites with dipping sauce
  • Grilled turkish bread strips with hummos and babganoush
  • Individual quiche tartlettes
  • Platter with salami, vege sticks, semi dried tomatoes, olives, cabanossi and crackers

MAINS:

  • BBQ chickens, in pieces
  • Roast pork scotch fillet – cold, sliced
  • Roast turkey breast wrapped in proscitto, cold, sliced
  • S;liced ham off the bone
  • Green salad
  • Rice salad
  • Potato salad
  • Fresh bread rolls

DESSERTS:

  • Trifle
  • Lemon cheesecake
  • Pavlova
  • Nanas christmas pudding, cold and sliced with custard

COFFEE:

  • Fruit and cheese platter
  • Handmade truffles
  • Assorted handmade fudge
  • Frozen grapes

  1. gosh you make me hungry!! lol

    I made a roast. We’ll have a German specialty “Spätzle” with it, plus either potatoes or rice. I’ll whip up a simple iceburg salad plus a fruit salad.

    I did no baking, no even an apple pie which I would normally make (from scratch).

    We are only 3 adults and one baby so not that much needed anyway…. and we’re not big eaters.
